Rock
Rock is a broad genre of popular music originating as rock and roll. It has its roots in the rock and roll of the 50s, a style born directly from genres such as blues, rhythm and blues belonging to African-American music and country. It also drew heavily on electric blues and folk, as well as incorporating influences from jazz and classical music, among other sources.
Glam
Glam rock is a subgenre of rock born in the United Kingdom. It was born at a time when psychedelic rock drifted towards styles that abused virtuosity and long song developments, to the detriment of the freshness that could be found in old rock'n'roll.
